10 minutes a day for a better eye health
We are all aware of the importance of physical training in keeping our body fit, but do you know, our eyes need exercise, too.
Regular eye exercises could maintain good vision and relieve symptoms of dry eye disease (DED) or blurry vision. Below are the top five simple eye exercises, which can be done within 10 minutes every day for better eye health and support dry eyes treatment. Let’s look!
1. Blinking
Blinking is the simplest exercise you can do to improve your vision.
Blink rapidly for 10 seconds
Close your eyes to rest for 15-20 seconds
Repeat the process 3-5 times until your vision is clear
2. Palming
This exercise can be used anytime and anywhere, especially when you need a break after working on computers for a long time.
Rub your palms together until they are warm
Apply them on your closed eyes and gently massage the eyelids for 2-3 minutes
3. Focus change
During this exercise, you need to change your eye focus between far and near objects.
Put your thumb a few centimeters in front of your eyes and focus on it
Slowly move your thumb straight until your arm is totally stretched
Look into the distance for several seconds before pulling it back
Look away to relax and repeat your exercise 3-5 times
4. Figure an eight
You might need to take a comfortable seat for this simple task.
Draw an imaginary eight on the floor, 3 to 5 meters away from you
Trace the path along this figure with your eyes for 20-30 seconds and do the same in the reverse direction
Repeat the process 2-3 times a day
5. Direction change
This exercise is very easy.
Move your eyes in four main directions: up, down, to the left and right
Stay focused on what you see for several seconds without moving your head
Repeat the process for 2-3 minutes
